Ducks in a Row...

I've been busy getting together my crochet projects to take along with me on vacation...

Getting my "ducks in a row"...

I think I'm all set now and ready for vacation to get here...

This latest project is is called Cozy Log Cabin and is from A Year of Afghans 1996...

I'm making this for one of my husband's nieces as a house warming gift.  She and her family just moved into a new home.  I wasn't crocheting when she got married, so wanted to make an afghan for her.  I'm trying to match colors she uses in her home...

I may play around with the placement of the colors, but still keeping the darker on one side and the lighter on the other as is traditional with the log cabin squares (at least what I've seen).

This is my test square.  It's a fairly large square and mine measures 11 x 11 inches.

I now have three projects rounded up to take with me...

Come on vacation, I'm impatiently patiently waiting!

I've got my ducks in a row.

Summer Evening...

It's a cool summer evening...
I can hear the sound of dear husband cutting the grass...
and laughter as the little one runs through the yard blowing bubbles...

I went to inspect the flowers...
my little froggy friend is about to be overtaken by impatiens...

He doesn't seem to mind and wears a perpetual grin...

My pink rose bush is growing like a weed and has new growth...
blooms...
and buds...
growing in all different directions.

We've had so much rain lately everything is lush and green...
and another storm is brewing...

It's about time for the fireflies to come out...
and flash their yellow glow in the fading light.

Wishing you a pleasant evening and sweet summer sounds as your day draws to a close...

Mosaic Work in Progress...

I started working on a new afghan project this past Saturday.  It's called Gingham Checks and is in Mosaic Magic by Lily Chin.  This is a pattern I haven't tried before and it just uses long double crochet stitches to form the "V" and drop stitch.  It kind of creates a trellis effect that I think is really pretty.

The pattern is worked in strips and then whip stitched together; I'll probably slip stitch the pieces together as I'd rather crochet than sew!

:-)

I'm working on another project as well, so this is something that will just get done when it gets done; no rush.

It's been an overcast day so far with thunderstorms predicted for this afternoon.  A perfect day for catching up on laundry and working with my hook and yarn.

If you haven't done so already, don't forget to sign up for my ANNIVERSARY GIVEAWAY; details can be found HERE

Blessings to you for a wonderful day!

Weight Loss Chronicles

The "Weight Loss Chronicles" continue...

Not too much to report on the weight loss front.  I'm down a total of 17 pounds now since I started my journey.  It's coming off slowly, but surely.

This weekend was a tough one though; we attended a family wedding out of town.  One of my all-time favorites is wedding cake.  Not sure what it is, but wedding cake always tastes extra special.  Plus, I had Chicken Cordon Bleu as my entree, which was yummy, but oh so fattening!

So, with our travel stops (can you say McDonald's coming and going),  the goodies at the wedding, eating out, and breakfast buffet at the hotel, I'm not anticipating a loss this week.  But, I'll take it in stride and keep on keeping on.

And try to remember...

Consider the postage stamp:  its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing till it gets there.

The Fisherman Wedding Afghan Tale is Complete!

The Fisherman Tale is now complete!

I just finished up the fringe on The Fisherman Wedding Afghan this morning...
just in the nick of time...
the wedding is THIS weekend!

I wasn't sure if I'd get it complete in time.  But I finally got down to business and started making progress

I did end up blocking it as the popcorn stitch really "pulled" even with a larger hook.  Thankfully, I used a wool blend (Wool-Ease) and it blocked just fine...

I really enjoyed the challenge of it.

It rained all day yesterday, so I wasn't sure if I would be able to get any outdoor photos...
but thankfully, the sun came out today
and I was able to get in my "photo shoot".

I hope the bride and groom will enjoy their gift...
Whether they end up using it at the foot of their bed...
or to keep them warm as they watch a favorite movie and enjoy some shared popcorn...

As always best wishes to the happy couple and many blessings to them for a lifetime of happiness.

The End!
(But, another project is soon to follow!)

Missing

This young woman has been missing since early June.  I can only imagine what her family is going through.  I don't know her, but Indiana is one of our border states and you never know, someone reading this may have seen her.

More information can be found HERE.

Lifting up prayers for her safe return.

Quietly Stitching...

What a beautiful afternoon we've had here!

Dear husband decided to take the little one to the park this afternoon following lunch, so I took the opportunity to work on my crochet.  The temps are low today with little humidity, so I sat out on the deck with my feet propped up working on the Fisherman Wedding Afghan.  It was so peaceful out there, with a nice breeze blowing through the tops of the trees and my wind chimes softly tinkling...

As I crocheted, I took in the view of my impatiens, that are getting quite full and watched the sun make pretty dappled shapes on the lawn...

It was a nice way to spend a peaceful hour or so just....

quietly stitching...

My time is running low for completing the afghan and I'll be "burning the midnight oil" this week trying to wrap it up.

I hope you are enjoying a peaceful Sunday afternoon doing the things you enjoy.

Blessings.

Summer

Summer

is in

full bloom.

My mom is visiting from out of town this week and we've enjoyed a nice time together.  We took dear son to the zoo one day, we've been to a couple of the local parks, and just enjoyed quiet days on the deck.  It's been a wonderful visit.

I hope to have an update on the Fisherman Wedding Afghan in the next couple of days.

Until then...

And Summer Begins...

After lunch yesterday dear son and I headed to the park to enjoy the beautiful day and celebrate the end of school for the year.

He had a blast burning off energy on the play set and then we walked around the pond and enjoyed watching the ducks.

And, just in case we had a mind to...

there were signs posted all around reminding us...

I'm not sure who they think would swim in this little pond, but I suppose it might tickle some one's fancy...

This is a Veterans Memorial Park, so we took some time to remember...

so that we don't forget...

We ended the day with a fun dinner of homemade pizza and fresh pineapple.

It was a great start to what promises to bee...

a beautiful summer...
